ABOUT OUR EVENT

March 1st - March 31st
3rd Annual Walk for Wellness: A Virtual Voyage
Strength Over Silence (SOS) invites people of all ages to participate in the Third Annual Walk for Wellness. The goal of SOS is to raise public awareness about mental health and suicide prevention. SOS is a student-led organization, developed to break the stigma surrounding mental health and suicide.

Although this year SOS is unable to hold a physical Walk for Wellness on the peaceful and scenic San Juan Hills High School, as hosted in the past, the pandemic does not stop SOS in its efforts to support mental health awareness. Participants will set their own pace and duration during this virtual walk, we encourage everyone to try to complete at least 3 miles.

SOS believes that this year the community can come together virtually. Our mantra for spreading awareness will be emphasized by one simple question:

How do YOU keep YOUR mental health balanced?

To spread positivity during this unprecedented time, when people may feel disconnected with school or community, SOS offers an opportunity for all participants to connect virtually. We encourage participants to share their experiences and participates in the numerous ways in which one's mental health can be maintained. Participants will join in virtually through the SOS Walk Padlet or by tagging Project SOS on various social media platforms.

This fun and educational event will include:

*Opportunity drawings (gift cards and gift baskets) [Additional items subject to change]
*Free "R U Ok?" books written by Kristi Hugstad
*Free blue and purple ribbon pins and necklaces
*SOS Face Masks to purchase ($5)

*Use of various zoom backgrounds to spread awareness
*Virtual Padlets for Participants to share their stories and experience
*Virtual activity/educational sessions each week on different mental illnesses

All participants are encouraged to display the provided zoom backgrounds during their class meetings! SOS provides numerous ways and activities in which participants can enrich their mental health and spread positivity!
